Being on keto for so many months and the only dish I missed is Dal. And to come out with this recipe was truly a heavenly feeling.
Preparation time: 15 mins
Cooking time: 30 mins
Serves: 3
Ingredients
For Dal
Step 1
Chironji/Charoli seeds 75g
Water 3 cups
Bay leaf 1
Clove 3-4
Cinnamon stick 1
Ginger finely chopped 1 tsp
Asafoetida 1 /2 tsp
Salt 1 tsp
Step 2
Onions finely chopped 50g
Fresh Tomato pureed 1/2 cup
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Green chillies finely chopped 1 tsp
Garlic minced 1 tbsp heaped
Salt as required
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
Hung curd 1/2 tbsp
Fresh cream 1 tbsp
Ghee 2 tbsp
Garlic Naan
Coconut flour 1 cup
Psyllium husk1/4 cup
Salt 1/2 tsp
Nigella seeds 1/2 tsp
Hung curd 1 tbsp
Warm water for the dough
Butter to roast the Naans
Finale
For the Dal
Cream 1 tbsp
Butter optional
Coriander leaves finely chopped 1 tbsp
Method
For the dal
Step 1
In a pressure pan put all the ingredients and ket it pressure cook for 10-12 whistles.
Step 2
Heat a nonstick pan add ghee to it. Then add the cumin seeds, once it gets roasted then add green chillies, then add garlic to it.
Saute a bit, then add onions to it.
Cook till onions become pink.
Then add the tomato puree
Saute and cook.
Then add all the remaining ingredients and cook until the oil separates out
Now add the cooked dal into it. Saute it.
Then add hung curd and the cream one by one. Stir continuously.
Of the gravy is thick then add some more water.
Let it boil for some minutes.
For the Garlic Naan
Mix all the dry ingredients.
Mix hung curd in warm water and pour it on the mix.
Mix it thoroughly.
Then knead a soft dough.
Cover and keep aside.
After 10 mins remove the cover and knead the dough with some oil and divide the dough into 6 portions.
Now roll each portion between 2 parchment sheet.
Apply garlic to it by spreading it on the naan and then pressing it.
Now transfer it onto a nonstick tawa/griddle.
Roast the Naan from both the side by applying butter to it.
Take it on a plate
Finale
Take out the Dal Makhni onto a serving dish and sprinkle some coriander leaves, some cream to top it and a spoonful of butter.
Serve the Dal Makhni with the Hot Garlic Naan
